Are you, or your loved one struggling with Mental Health Problems?

If you answered yes, we are here to Help you.  At Valiant Behavioral Health we offer a residential treatment program that has a strong emphasis on Mental Health and Wellness.  We believe that small groups and private counseling  provide the most effective treatment outcomes.

In Ottawa, and our other Canadian locations we currently take a maximum of 9 individuals per location.  We believe that 1on1 counselling is very important that is why we include a guaranteed minimum of 8 individual private sessions each month, in addition to all the group sessions and courses.

Overcoming Health Issues

Our Individualized program allows us to address your specific situation and circumstances. We offer program lengths of 30, 60, 90, or 120 days for both men and women as it is a proven fact that longer treatment lengths increase positive treatment outcomes.

Small Admissions Size

At Valiant Behavioural Health we only take a maximum of 9 clients at a time. This helps to ensure that no one slips through the cracks, as often in larger centers it is hard to be heard among the crowd. At Valiant Behavioural Health your voice is important. Peer discussion in group sessions is a great place to hear others tell their stories of support and inspiration. Being a small center allows all clients to develop lasting and healthy relationships, that can be supportive out in the real world.

Comfortable Accommodations and Amenities

At Valiant Behavioural Health we understand it is a tough decision to go into a residential program so we have made every effort to make this decision easier and more comfortable. Our home has options that include shared or private rooms, an acreage to take a stroll during down time, Theater Room and regular Gym Visits and Leisure activities. We understand that being away from home for 30 days and longer can be difficult. By offering a luxurious home, we feel it will help alleviate home sickness for most people and allow change to be more natural.

Mental Health Residential Treatment Program

Residential Mental Health Programs are a highly effective way of healing individuals from things like Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Loss, PTSD, Trauma, Anger and many other mental health related issues.

Our goal: We want to meet the client where they are on the road to recovery and provide the tools that they need to move further along this continuum. We emphasize self-determination, personal responsibility and encourage our clients to re-write their life stories in a motivational, supportive environment.

The Program: We offer an intensive, residential program (30-120 days). The core components of this program are group therapy, individual therapy, psycho-educational workshops, and fitness.

Group Therapy:  Keeping with our low residential capacity of 6  clients per residence, we are able to keep our groups small and personal, with a maximum of 10 clients when women and men come together.  In group therapy, clients will be examining their lives through various exercises, projects, and general group work.

Our Technique:  We believe strongly in dealing with many of the underlying issues that are fueling mood disorders, so groups will pinpoint topics such as anxiety, depression, anger management, codependency, and boundaries.

Our Small Groups and Pyscho-educational workshops include topics such as:

    • Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome
    • Neurobiology
    • Changing Beliefs
    • Managing Stress
    • Self Esteem
    • Feelings and Positive Thinking
    • Non-Violent Communication
    • Anger Management
    • Healthy Relationships
    • Grief and Loss
    • Anxiety and Depression
    • Codependency

Valiant Behavioural Health offers a Residential Program to help change the environment temporarily that is triggering mental healt issues.

The lifestyle change of living at our Residential Program can help improve the overall mood; getting regular exercise, limiting caffeine and alcohol, eating healthier alternatives while limiting sugar and fat can all be effective as well. Reducing stress and sleeping at least seven to nine hours per night can also impact depression.

At Valiant Behavioural Health, we like to explore Nutraceutical approaches to treating mental health issues as our first course of action, if this is still not effective we will look at pharmaceutical options after.

Mental Health Illnesses

Many people in society today are struggling with Mental Health Issues, but with out proper healthy solutions the number will continue to grow. We offer many therapies to help with many kinds of Mental Health concerns, along with vitamins, supplements and medications

Antisocial Personality Disorder– Antisocial Personality Disorder is one of the common mental illnesses associated. In some cases this illness causes the user to self medicate with drugs, while in others certain drugs can cause this illness.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder– Individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder often have problems with substance abuse. The user may use sedatives or marijuana to come down from the hyper state, but this can cause other problems instead.

Bipolar Disorder– Bipolar disorder is a mental illness which causes an individual to fluctuate between being manic and being depressed, the two poles of human nature. This mental illness may be made worse by substance use because of the chemical changes caused in the brain.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder– Many individuals who have substance problems suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. This mental illness can lead to a sense of anxiety which occurs without a legitimate reason for this emotion.

Depression– Substance abuse can cause depression, and is commonly associated with this mental illness. Chronic drug or alcohol abuse causes the brain to produce fewer neurotransmitters, and this can cause depression or make it worse.

Mania– Some types of substance abuse can cause mania to occur. This is especially true if stimulants, also referred to as uppers, are abused.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder– Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is another mental illness which has been linked to substance abuse. Chronic drug or alcohol abuse can cause this illness to appear in otherwise mentally healthy individuals.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder– Post Traumatic Stress Disorder occurs when something so traumatic happens to an individual that they have difficulty coping with it. Many people who suffer from this mental illness try to cope by turning to drugs or alcohol, but this usually only makes the symptoms worse.

Schizophrenia– Schizophrenia can be caused by the chronic use of drugs and alcohol. People who suffer from this mental illness may also turn to substance abuse in an attempt to stop the symptoms they are experiencing.
